A hammock is a sling made of fabric, rope or netting. Usuallyl suspended between two points, say between trees or posts, a hammock can be used for swinging, sleeping or resting. Historically, hammocks have been associated with the sea because sailors swung back and forth as they crossed oceans.

The hammock’s origins date back, however, thousands of years to Central America where it was used to elevate and protect people from animals and the forest floor. In fact, you can still see the hammocks used among indigenous people in the Amazon Basin today in National Geographic magazines or online.

Today, the hammock has become a symbol of leisure and relaxation. Although if you think that slinging a hammock between posts or trees is the only way you would be mistaken. Some users have taken it to the extreme and use the hammock while cliff face climbing and slack lining!

Whenever, or wherever, you choose to sling your hammock–at home or in the great outdoors–you will likely be enjoying some of Bliss Products and Services quality outdoor recreational products.
