ABOUT OUR COMPANY

A family-owned and operated business that values quality & service.

In April, 1984, Bliss Products and Services, Inc. (BPS) was founded by Gary and Nancie Bliss in Florida with their dream to be independent business owners. Both went to college for and were working in the parks and recreation/leisure services industry.

Having designed and developed many parks during his career in Ohio and Florida, Gary, who was Director of Broward County Parks and Recreation in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, took early retirement. Nancie left her job as Executive Director of the Florida Recreation and Park Association in Tallahassee to join Gary in this adventure.

Both worked with a very small wood playground equipment company, Park Structures of America. Eventually, they founded and moved BPS to their small cabin in the mountains outside Bryson City, NC, and represented several manufacturers, e.g., Iron Mountain Forge and Stadiums Unlimited. And, after several years, the growing demands and needs of the business had them once again moving and opening an office in Bryson City.

The need for sales reps increased as their territory grew and they began to build a team of people, some who are still with BPS today. The couple’s son, Gregg, chose to help with this and moved his life from Texas to join the company as a sales rep. His expertise in the computer field, auto cad drawings, and business protocol helped the company keep pace with the rapid changes their manufacturers were offering and demanding. Hand drawing playground designs on paper with your customers was no longer feasible and they started providing professionally rendered drawings for customer approval, which was then ordered from the factory.

In 1999, Gary and Nancie retired, moved to their new home in Montana, handing over the reins of their business as well as full ownership and operations to Gregg, who moved the business to Lithia Springs, Georgia. This proved to be a great location for business operations, and Gregg was able to expand territory from a few states to the many states listed in the next section!

BPS also become a licensed general contractor in most states they do business in. As they expanded into new states, they expanded their office staff and added more sales people to cover those state. And to serve an even larger market, they launched an online store where they provide a selection of products nationwide. We will continue to find ways to meet our customers needs!
