Bunche Park Elementary – Miami Gardens

Bunche Park Elementary in Miami Gardens, Florida asked for a shaded playground that would hold up in daily school use and match the colorful new campus. Working with the school and district team, Patty Carruthers and Bliss Products and Services supplied bright composite play structures, coordinated poured in place rubber surfacing, and a large steel shade canopy that keeps the play area cooler during the school day.

The result is an inclusive play space that feels inviting, ties into the building colors, and gives students a safe outdoor area that works with South Florida sun, salt air, and afternoon storms.

Personal Note:  Every school playground is an investment in children’s daily lives. My goal is to make sure those spaces last — and that they serve every student who walks through the gates.
From Miami and Fort Lauderdale to smaller communities like Homestead, Hialeah, Hollywood, and Pembroke Pines, every project reminds me that safe, shaded playgrounds truly change how kids experience their school day. Whether it’s a new shade canopy at a Miami-Dade elementary, a playground resurfacing in Port St. Lucie, or an inclusive play upgrade in Stuart or Vero Beach, I love seeing these spaces bring energy and connection to each neighborhood. My goal is always the same: helping schools and parks across South Florida create outdoor areas where children can thrive, no matter the size of the city or town.
